Emergency shelters for families (Department of Housing and Community Development list) — search by community from the drop down list. Please read the Mass Law Reform Institute’s (MLRI) “Applying for Emergency Assistance Shelter: A Guide for Families”; note that if they place you in shelter that night and don’t go, they can refuse you shelter for a year. AHP has been told that families with children with disabilities can apply by phone by calling 866-584-0653; otherwise you must apply in person at a DHCD office.
